Monday, Monday.

Mondays are not my favorite day of the week. But today was MUCH better than last Monday. Why?? Because last Monday I had food poisoning or a virus or something. NOT FUN! So I ended up taking Tuesday off also. Monday I couldn't do anything, but Tuesday I did start a scarf. I finished it last night & wore it to work today.

I bought this yarn at a sale in L.A. This yarn shop has ALL yarns on sale for 35% off for the WHOLE month of December & they do this in June also.

Ok, so I bought the Netflix Gift Card.........for the dogsitters. I think they are happy with it.

Would you like to see a picture of L.A. from my trip?? This is from Griffith Park. When I was a kid I always would drive to the Observatory & check out the sky. Brought back memories.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaack...........

Just got back today!! You know what?? I didn't knit a stitch!! I did BRING the 2 sock projects & I did start the Net Market Bag BEFORE I went on my trip & I did bring my book & just barely started it on my flight back. I was busy every minute. Not much rest. It was great to see my family & friends.

I also had a GREAT dog-sitter for Lacey. She & her husband said I could put them in my will to have Lacey if anything happened to me. I asked them because I'm in the process of doing my will. I have no intention of not being around........but hey, you just never know. I also got a bargain price to do my will for $45 through work. The catch is that I have to finish it by the end of the month.

Back to the dog-sitters........I need to get them a thank you gift. Any ideas?? I was thinking about a gift certificate to Amazon.com. That way they could buy anything.........or a 6 month subscription to Netflix. What do you think?? Any ideas?? Tell me fast, cuz I have to get it soon!

I get tomorrow off too, back to work on Tuesday. Maybe I could at least knit ONE stitch tomorrow. Even ONE row might be ok!!

Guess What I'm Going To Do??

I'm really going to knit the Net Market Bag again, as I mentioned in my last post. I even have actually started it.

I'm going to visit family for a week in L.A. on Dec. 1st. And guess what else?? I decided to take both pairs of unfinished socks with me..............I actually decided NOT to start a new project yet!! Hard to believe, isn't it?? I will also take a book with me: Love Over Scotland.

I'm hoping to rest. I've been working WAY too hard. And learning too much for my poor ole' brain. I will also visit my favorite vendor there & they will even give me a half day training.

I'll talk to you when I get back............

TWO Hats!!

Sooooooooooooo, I made a hat for my friend's daughter, &&&&&&&&&&&&&& I made a hat for me! Here are the pictures.

I think I will make another Net Market Bag now.............I'm into EASY right now!!!

What next??

Here is the scarf I gave my old co-worker the other evening when we met at a sushi restaurant! She loved it. She didn't bring me the other ball of yarn to finish the other scarf I'm making her though..........

So, what shall I do next?? I know, you are thinking.........."why won't she get back to her socks?????" Well, I'm kinda thinking the same thing............BUT, I'm just sick of those.....

Thinking of trying to knit with wire & beads, to do a bracelet for someone for Christmas............

Thinking of another scarf for another friend for Christmas...........

Thinking of doing a hat for ME!! Or for my friend's daughter..................

See..........there I go again...........thinking............but not knitting anything........................

What do you think I should knit???

Give it a Whirl

I just finished my "Give it a Whirl" bag. I suppose I can go back to my socks now. I'm waiting for my old co-worker to buy more yarn so that I can finish her scarf.

A friend is taking me out to see the play, The Importance of Being Earnest. We will go eat dinner first. I have to leave in an hour & I'm not ready. I hope I can stay awake. It starts at 8pm & I just am not a night person at all.

Tomorrow another friend is taking me out for Sunday brunch after church.

My friends know how to spoil me. I will just have to keep knitting for them. I have no idea who to give this bag to. I just may keep it for myself.

She liked this hat too!

I gave my friend her second hat yesterday. Gosh, in 1 week she lost a lot of hair. I enjoy her so much. It's been great to be with her, though I certainly wish it could be under different circumstances. She looked so cute in the hat too. She told me that her daughter wants a hat like the other one. So maybe when I'm done doing my 2 scarves for my old co-worker?? Will I ever get back to finishing any of my projects that have been started???

Thursday, October 18, 2007

I will do a scarf.....for my old co-worker....

I got my Knit Picks yarn last week & even finished the other hat for my friend. It's in my glove compartment in the car..........I forgot all about taking a picture of it. I will have to go & get it & do that before I give it to her. And guess what?? She liked the other one. She looked really cute in it. So I will someday make one for me...................boy, I sure have a lot of "somedays", don't I?

I really need to do the 2 scarves for my old co-worker. She isn't old at all, but you know what I mean!!

Someone, I have NO idea who, told me about the Duchess of Duke Street. I got the 1st video from the library which had 3 episodes on it. For some reason the library doesn't have the 2nd video, which has the next 3 episodes on it............but I did place on hold the 3rd video. Seems like this is quite a long series that was on PBS 30 years ago. Well, I didn't want to miss 3 episodes................so then I thought maybe I could buy the book. So what happens?? I go to Amazon & they have movie downloads!!! Did you know that?? So I downloaded 1 of the 3 episodes from what would've been the library's #2 video. It was $1.99. I watched that on my computer this evening. Very fun!! Did you know you could download like that from Amazon?? If you did know, why didn't you tell me??? I plan on downloading the other 2 episodes that the library is missing. A very good series. I highly recommend it.

Things at work are going better. Busy, stressful, long hours, brain farts all day long!!! But I am learning a lot. I'm glad I'm there.............but I want to knit again.................& even blog a little!

A Sunday Dump

I haven't had much time to knit. I did knit a hat for a close friend of mine who just started chemo after her breast cancer surgery. She hasn't lost any hair yet, but I wanted to see if she would like this style. I've actually made several of these & have given them all away in the past. I know it's not her desired colors, but it was in my stash & I figured I would wear it, since I've never kept one for myself, that is............if she doesn't like it. I haven't given it to her yet though. I'm also thinking it may be a little short for someone without hair. We'll see. I'm waiting for some Decadence in Winter Rose to come in the mail from Knit Picks. It's 100% bulky Alpaca & is the color she desired & the warmth & softness that I would desire!! It will be the Lucy free hat pattern, also on the Knit Picks website.

I just have the cords left to do on the "Give it a Whirl Bag". Don't ask about either of my socks. I haven't knit a stitch on either of them....................

It's been raining all weekend. Kind of down because work is actually very hard for me. I feel like I'm in New York. I've never been there & have always wanted to go, but the "energy" in my workplace is so intense & they aren't very patient with me not understanding things yet. Very driven with little compassion. It's nice that my blog is anonymous & no one can "find" this. I just figured you all would let me "dump" on you. Would appreciate your prayers. Thanks for listening.

I can share a fun thing though. I finally got high speed internet a couple of weeks ago, since my neighbors moved & they had let me freeload on theirs!! I got 6 months for $19.99/month, a free installation kit, a free modem, had to buy the wireless router.............then the guy said, "Would you like $100 off a computer?". I told him I already had one. Then he asked me about an MP3 player. I told him I had a little cheap one, so I didn't need one. Then he said, "There is one for $100 & if I give you $100 off, you get it for free". DUH!!!!! No wonder I'm having trouble with my job!! So yesterday I was playing with it all day. I get a month or two free on Rhapsody & downloaded TONS of fun music for free. But I think it "expires" when my free membership is over. Having fun listening to some old Jackson Browne today & some old Loggins & Messina yesterday.

Today I made a small batch of chocolate oatmeal coconut almond walnut cookies. As usual, I used a recipe as a base, & changed the whole thing! Used whole wheat pastry flour & a little xylitol. Not bad..........but, yeah, sugar is the best. EVIL, but the best!! :) So I settle for what I can have without messing up my body. I've got pinto beans in the crock pot..........& I'm thinking of making my delicious mushroom soup so I can have it for lunches this week. I'm too lazy to do recipes for you.

New Windows!

I just had new windows put in my place. Very nice. I've been wanting to do this for 8 years.

I noticed that I only had 2 blogs in Sept. so I thought I'd better hurry up to tell you something. Too busy & too tired.............it's raining & is suppose to all weekend. I never did stain my deck. Does that mean next year I will have to bleach it again before I stain it?? Or will my deck be ruined without stain to protect it all winter?? Please leave me a comment & let me know. I am NO do-it-yourself-er.

That's the extent of my excitement for tonight!!

Will I ever blog or knit again???

With my new job I'm trying to figure out what insurance to sign up for, & doing all the paper work for my old 401k to rollover.........ick, crazy paperwork...........no knitting...........no blogging...........

I'm tired...........my brain is on overload.............but it's good................

Give it a Whirl Bag

That's what I'm knitting right now. Looks like all the other projects I've started are just sitting on the needles. Oh well.

My head is spinning with all the info from my new job. I have soooooooooooo much to learn!! Having fun so far. But less knitting time. I'm working from 7am-5pm, eating at my desk, which is usual for me.

I still haven't stained my deck, but at least it is clean & ready..........

I'm Keeping Busy!

Well, Tuesday was my last day at work!! Very fun to be moving on. I even got a call from my team lead at the new company that day, telling me that they are excited to have me & she asked me how I was doing. I told her I was excited too. What a nice touch!

Meanwhile, I knitted this for my friend. She asked me months ago for something to put on her water bottle, so here it is. I hope she likes it. I don't have plans to see her soon, so I'm going to have to direct her to my blog so she can see it. Does that spoil it?? I hope not. I'm sure she'll let me know in the "comments" if I spoiled her surprise!! :) Here are the "before" & "after" felting pictures.

I will make my blackberry kuchen tomorrow. I think. I did pick more blackberries. You want my recipe, don't you? I'll post it later this week. I think it's better than my friend's. But don't get me wrong. Hers is delicious!! She thinks hers is better than mine!! :)

AND, guess what?? I finally finished de-mossing my deck!! It's ready to stain now. Will I really do that though?? I think I'll procrastinate that for a couple more weeks!! :)

Re-dye, Today's Emerald City

I got some more blue Kool Aid. It made the Emerald City more vibrant I think. I like it better than yesterday. Do you??

More Dyeing Fun

Not sure how to make these pictures work right. This is the yarn I dyed yesterday.

I call it "Strawberry Ice". It is 100% Cashmere yarn.

I will make this pattern with it.

So, today I had Sockergirl come over & I showed her what I learned yesterday & she added to it all. Very fun. Here are all the Kool Aid colors she used:

This is it on the stove:

This is it up to dry:

We called it "Citrus Medley".

I also did another one. We called it "Emerald City". BUT, I'm going to get some more blue & re-dye it & see what happens just for fun. Here it is today.

And one more picture.

I'll let you know how the re-dyeing goes!!

Saturday, August 25, 2007

I'm dieing!!!

No I'm not!! I'm dyeing!!! I am at my friend's house & we are dyeing our yarn. She's done this before, but this is my first time. Kool Aid. Very cool. Blastin' Berry Cherry & Black Cherry mixed. I'll take a picture & post it after it dries, so give me a few days. I had NO idea this would be so easy. Now I know why all of you do this.

Blackberry Pickin'

Lacey & I went on our walk, tupperware in hand...........picked several cups of blackberries. Came home & made a cobbler/crisp thing. YUM!!!!!!!! Uh oh...............

Started a pair of socks with my Cascade Fixation yarn. I think I will just do a K3P1 rib pattern. I still don't feel like going back to my Jaywalkers yet. I thought about using my new Fleece Artist yarn.......but decided to make these cotton blend ones, while there's a little summer left.......

Thinking about trying my Swallowtail Shawl again.......it's been almost a year since I barely started that!! And then again, there is my sweater that I started a couple months ago.................

And then...............................................there's everything else that I want to make. Every bit of my stash has a project tied to it..................

I'm going to my friend's house on Saturday & she's going to teach me how to dye yarn. I was gifted with 440 yards of Cashmere yarn, but it needs to be dyed. That will be interesting.

So, what are you doing??

Quick Scarf for Princess

Princess is a gal at work who said she was mad at me when I told her that I was quitting. She's very special & I actually had this yarn picked out for her for over a year & a half. She's on vacation this week, so I will be able to give it to her next week. Princess isn't her real name, it's the nickname I gave her.

Looks like I won't have time to whip another one out for the gal who gave me the knitting book. I'm sure I will see her again though. She wants a nice wool scarf. She'll have to wait..............

I'm really excited about my new job. I know, I already told you that. I'll probably tell you again.

A Picture!!

This is the finished Black Chenille Silk Foulard. The yarn wasn't fun to knit with, & it has a strong smell. It is the dye. As I washed it to block, the black kept running & running. It's really just suppose to be a square. I'm blocking it, but didn't have enough pins to make it straight. That's ok. The other weird thing is that the 2 skeins of yarn were slightly different thicknesses. Can you see the "demarcation" line? I will give you a hint........draw a line from the upper right corner to the lower left corner, you can see one side is "looser" & one side is "tighter". Well, when i wear it tomorrow, no one will notice. The other thing, it sure isn't easy to get a decent picture when it is on a yellow plaid sheet!!!

More news!!!!!!!!! Great news!!!!!!!!!! I got a new job!!! Since I am incognito on this blog, I will keep it that way. But the last 2 weeks have been a roller coaster ride. VERY FUN & EXCITING, in spite of the STRESS!! I gave my 2 weeks notice to my current employer today. My boss was very kind. I'm really looking forward to what's next. A whole new chapter in my life. I don't make New Year's resolutions. I never have. But this year I did. I even made 2. They both have happened. To lose weight....20 pounds so far, 5 to go, but I would like to lose 10..............& to get a new job. Can't believe they both happened. All thanks to the Lord for His intervention, love & mercy!!

5 More Minutes.........

If I could stay up for 5 more minutes I would be finished with my Black Silk Foulard. I'm sleep-typing................so maybe tomorrow I will finish & take a picture???

I finally did do the gussets on the Jaywalkers, so they really need to be my next project.

Last week I went to Little Knits & bought some gorgeous Fleece Artist Merino Sock yarn in the color of Blackberry. I really want to just start on a new pair using this yarn. This color is WAY more beautiful in person!!

Speaking of blackberries.............they are ripe all over the place. I need to pick some this weekend & make something yummy.

Rat Update

RatMan says there is no new activity!! Yeah!! So now I just get to pay the bill. I sure would rather buy yarn...................

Kuishimbo, That's Me!!

Kuishimbo is a Japanese word. It's kind of hard to define, but the jest of it is someone who eats like a pig.

On Saturday I went to the Eastside Knitter's Guild annual summer potluck. Very fun, & I ate too much. I did knit a couple of rows. And I'm actually about to turn the heel on my sock.

On Sunday I went to the International Christian Fellowship potluck with some old friends that used to be in ministry together. That sentence doesn't sound right, but I never was an English major. That's what I always tell my Dad when he tries to correct my English!! Anyway, I told Kathy N. that I would write about how we ate too much at the potluck. I was really disappointed with my Apple Cake. A new recipe. I always make this group be my "test kitchen" for new recipes. I got the recipe from FoodTV.com. It was crummy, & crumby, but they seemed to like it, which is most important. I make desserts without sugar. I use xylitol, or erythritol. That wasn't the problem, it was just very heavy & didn't cook consistently.

So, is your life more exciting than mine???

Is It Really August??

It was in the mid-80's today, but it cooled down so nicely. All that icky humidity is gone. What a pleasant walk I had. I have a 10 year old friend, Emily, that I sometimes see. I hadn't seen her for over a month. She is so cute. She rides her bike while I walk Lacey.

Finished reading HP last Saturday, a fun break.

I have knitted more of my mindless Silk Chenille Foulard. Foulard must mean shawl.......cuz it's a shawl to me!! If it were done, I could've worn it today. I wore a thin black jacket over a dress today, which was too warm. So I may just concentrate on this, & wait on my Jaywalkers. I'm on the heel of those & am doing the eye of the partridge heel. I think that's what it is called. These socks just don't thrill me at all. Everyone else's Jaywalkers are wonderful though, so it's not fair that I'm not excited about my own!!

I e-mailed the library & asked them to order Ann Budd's new sock book. Getting Started Knitting Socks. They ordered it & have put me as #1 on the waiting list. I wish I could see it quickly, because if I like it, I'd like to order it at Knit Picks for their 40% off on all books sale.

A gal at work today blessed me with a present. She asked me if I liked calendars or books. I looked at her funny, then she walked me out to her car & gave me a choice of either The Knitting Answer Book, or 365 Knitting Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar I chose the book. Very hard choice though. She's on my list to make her a scarf. There is another gal at work who knits, & she is giving her the calendar. Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, she's pretty smart..........maybe there is a hidden agenda??

Oh, & the rats???? RatMan is coming on Monday. To check his traps & see what's left. Hopefully that's the end of them..........but no one else pitched in, so they may still get in from my neighbors crawl space. They haven't done a thing to close up holes, etc. I'm not hearing any noise in my walls. That's a good thing!

My Avatar??

These cartoon pictures are called "Avatars". It actually kind of looks like me, don't you think?? Except I wish I was that skinny. I have lost 20 pounds, 10 to go...........not fun.........that's another story........................

No knitting cuz I've been reading Harry Potter.......couldn't wait to get the audio from the library, though I still am on the waiting list.

And then no reading tonight because I took Lacey for our "short" walk. Met too many people & had tons of fun, but now I didn't get to read either..............our short walk ended up taking way longer than our long walk.

And then I played with this Avatar thing & added it to my blog.

Well, tomorrow is trash day & I'm ALWAYS successful in taking out my trash. See, I can do something right on schedule every week!! :)

Jaywalkers...again,...or should I say still.....

Just thought I'd show you how slow I'm going on these. Remember, I didn't do the ribbing on them. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I'm not so thrilled with these, & I haven't had much time to knit lately. The picture didn't turn out very good. I think I need to take my knitting outside to take better pictures. But it's time for bed & there is no sun outside right now though!

I still have half of my deck to de-moss from last week...........haven't done that either.

Could you please make all weekends 3 days for me?? But then, I would want 4 day weekends. And if I had 4 day weekends, then I'd want 5 day weekends...........but then.................

Before & After

As I am writing this, I am listening to a Harry Potter Podcast. Everyone is pondering what will happen in the last book. It's fun. I just came home from watching the movie. It was my favorite so far. The books are the best though..........but actually I listen to the books on CD. Jim Dale is amazing!! I am number 389 on the waiting list at the library for the CD. They've ordered over 140 of these, so I anticipate getting it about 2 weeks after it comes out. I have to make sure no one spoils it for me. No, I'm not in any Harry Potter Knit Alongs. I haven't even checked any out. Not interested right now.

Lacey got shaved yesterday. She belongs to the "Before & After" title. So the picture to the right is what she looked like a couple weeks ago. She is so beautiful!! Of course, I'm partial to my pooch!!

And here is what she looks like today. It looks like she lost 15 pounds!! She looks fragile . Every year when I get this done to her, I am always shocked by what she looks like shaved.

Wishful Thinking

I've barely knitted at all this past week. I've learned how to put buttons WITH links added to the sidebar of my blog though! The KnitList group gets me sidetracked constantly. But because of different peoples' ideas I have learned how to do a picot hemmed edge on a sock. Really cool. I wish I read about that before I "re-started" my Jaywalkers. I realized I could have changed the Jaywalker ribbing to a similar ribbing as the Broadripple Socks by purling the knit rows for the first inch. Again too late. I will NOT rip these again!!! I also got sidetracked by reading about "combined" knitting. I just now "wasted" an hour or so on that. But really, all the time I "waste" I am learning new things & it's a lot of fun. I just don't see any knitting progress.

Went to dinner with a neighbor this weekend. Went to my friend's house today to meet her daughter's future fiance (not quite a fiance yet). Actually more playing this past week than I have done in ages. Fun, but no knitting!!

My sloppy neighbors got a rat in a trap & they CLEANED UP their yard!! Their place looks very nice, I hope they keep it that way. I gave them my empty trap, since the rats liked their place more than mine, maybe?? Pest control will come over again tomorrow & tell me more of what I need to do. I get to leave work early to take care of rats. Oh boy, what fun..............NOT!

I was hoping to have taken pictures of the sleeve of my sweater that I started, though I didn't get very far. I was hoping to have taken a picture of my Jaywalker Socks without the ribbing. I was hoping to put a link here about the cute picot hemmed cuff for socks. I was hoping to frog the Broadripple Socks (they look a lot like the Jaywalkers) & start the same guy's pattern for what he calls Rib Tips Socks. I was hoping to completely finish bleaching/de-mossing my deck today (I did half of it yesterday though!).

Yeah, yeah, yeah..........lots of wishful thinking..............

I am a Knitting Adventurer!!!

I just took a quiz. It is called "What Kind of Knitter Are You?"
It tells me that I am a "Knitting Adventurer"!! Why don't you take it too & let me know what kind of knitter you are!!

This is what it says about me:

You are through those knitting growing pains and feeling more adventurous. You can follow a standard pattern if it's not too complicated and know where to go to get help. Maybe you've started to experiment with different fibers and you might be eyeing a book with a cool technique you've never tried. Perhaps you prefer to stick to other people's patterns but you are trying to challenge yourself more. Regardless of your preference, you are continually trying to grow as a knitter, and as well you should since your non-knitting friends are probably dropping some serious hints, these days.

It also says that I'm not alone. But that: 4502 other people got this result! This quiz has been taken 25540 times. 31% of people had this result.

Unraveling.......frogging........rippit.................

So it turns out that after knitting my heel flap on the Jaywalkers, that it looks like these are way too tight & will NOT work. Last night I frogged the whole thing, I'm back at square 1. Not so happy to say the least. Especially because I haven't had much time to knit at all & it took me 2 weeks to get to that point. SO...............I think I will start the sleeve of my sweater. Just for a little sock break, then I'll go back to the Jaywalkers & will not do a rib (because the rib is so loose) & I will cast on the 76 stitches. I'm off from work until Thursday, but have lots of plans. It's good to play, but I want to knit too!

Bait is set for the rats.........pest control finally came.

The weather is beautiful........I'm off to the dog park. Hey, I've got an idea. I'll take my knitting, then maybe I can hang out under a tree & knit after my dog gets her exercise. I'm all talk & no action/knitting!

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

Edit a Post?? Or a New One?? Ok, a New One.

I didn't do my mitigation last night. But I just completed it now. Feels good to complete something. I'd like to complete some of my knitting.

So...............I went to my knitting teacher's web site. You must check it out. Her business is called Knits Finished.

I think I will put her link in my side bar. Her finishing prices are very reasonable too.

Well, it's late, but maybe I can do a row or 2 of knitting. Except.............Sockergirl loaned me 3 knitting books on socks & they may be calling me?????

Private Knitting Lesson

On Saturday I had a private lesson, "How to Design Your Own Sweater". I tried to take it as a class, but nobody signed up for it except me, so they canceled it. The gal agreed to teach me privately. WOW!! She was AMAZING!!! Prompt, prepared, nice, thorough, great communicator. I have absolutely not 1 critical thing to say, not even a constructive criticism!! I brought in my swatch for the lesson. Here is a picture of my swatch. It is Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. From Little Knits, of course. Soooo soft. A beautiful green, hard to tell here. I will make a V-neck pullover with a simple cable going up the front & up the raglan sleeves. I told her what I wanted to do. She explained the math to me & the stitches I would need to do the V-neck & raglan sleeves. I've never done either of those before. We spent just over 2 hours together. I asked her how she could do this in a class setting, & she said that she can't go over things individually, but that the class is very general. So, in that case, I'm glad the class was canceled, cuz I learned way more this way!!

I had a very busy weekend with alot of different friends, so I didn't knit much at all. I have just barely started the heel flap on my Jaywalkers. Tonight I have to write out my "mitigation" for a speeding ticket I received a couple months ago. I can't make the court date, so I have to write down "my side" of the story. I feel like I have a term paper due. I want to knit.............but I can't.

I found a hole in a screen in the crawl space, now I see that the rats are truly nesting. I went frantically to the president's house & asked them to PLEASE move more quickly. I think they got my drift!!

NEWS FLASH!!! My dog just barked!! 2 small barks!! That is only about the 10th time (if that many) that I've heard her bark in over 2 years!!! I am almost ready to hire a hit man to get rid of the dog next door who incessantly barks. Maybe the neighbor's dog will be eaten by rats?? They are about the same size!

Rats in the Belfry....or somewhere....

No one has called pest control, & no rats have been caught in my trap. I heard them in the wall again the night before last. I did talk to our president today, I told him that I'd call the pest control...........he said those of us who had rats would have to pitch in together to get it taken care of. Fair enough to me.

I have enjoyed having this time off work. My friend & her Dad came with me to pick out some light fixtures & they even installed them for me! So kind! Today I knitted some & have about 5" on my socks. I think I'll turn the heel at 6". I took my dog to the dog park, her favorite place, then came home & trimmed the bushes in my back yard. Now my arms are shaking so much from not using those muscles, I can't knit!! I just tried to knit a couple rows. I'm glad no one was video taping me, you would've laughed.

I don't want to go back to work tomorrow..........................maybe if all of you pitch in a buck I could retire. With 1 million readers of this famous blog, I would be a millionaire so quickly! :)

A Charm.....I think.....

I'm taking 3 days off work because my missionary friend from China is here staying with me, while she visits other folks in the area, but I get to see her most!! Two of my days are already gone. Her Dad will be joining us tomorrow. They leave Monday am, & I'll be back at work on Tuesday. She's been gone half the day, I made no other plans, & since it rained this am, I knitted. Looks like these socks will work after this 3rd time!! Yeah!! I cast on 68 stitches instead of 76 like the pattern says. Here's a picture in progress.

Can 3 Times Be a Charm----PLEASE!!

Well, I've just started my Jaywalker Socks............for the 3rd time!! The directions as is, were huge, way too big for me. But because my Ampersand Socks were on the small side, I thought I needed to just follow directions, especially when my gauge matched correctly. I'm tired, so I'm going to bed now...........with only 3 rows done, & I'm not sure if I will need to start over again to even make them smaller. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

Finished Ampersand Socks!

Just finished my Ampersand Socks.
I used Socks That Rock (STR) medium weight in the Obsidian color. This yarn is fantastic. I love working with it. It should be that great with how expensive it is. This is the first time I've made socks with 2 circular needles. I also love making socks with this method. So much easier. Well, you've heard of SSS (single sock syndrome)..........I'll tell you about my syndrome. I made the first sock narrower than the pattern called for because I'm a loose knitter & every pair of socks I have made have been too large........but on 2 circulars I knit tighter.........so it turns out I should've just followed the pattern as is. So sock #2 is according to the pattern. I actually thought I would knit sock #3 according to the pattern, so that I would have a TRUE pair, but I've decided not to. They both fit & no one will know......except for all of you reading this!! I do have enough yarn to do a third sock, but I just can't. Too many patterns I want to try, too much stash I want to use, & these still fit, so there you have it. If some day I decide to make a third sock, my leftover yarn will be waiting for me. Next project?? I'm thinking Jaywalker Socks, magic loop method with STR light weight in the Rolling Stone color. I've just done a gauge swatch & I should be able to follow the pattern as is. But I have to figure out how to change it for magic loop. Think I can do it?? I think I can. Now I wonder if these pictures will disappear after a couple of days??? Also I don't know how to put them in any position that would look better.

One thing I couldn't do. I couldn't set the mouse traps. Went to the President's house (I think I'll address him like this so he can feel important!!) & asked him to do it for me. He did, but the poor guy snapped the rat trap on his finger. He says they are rats, not mice. His wife will call the pest control folks this week. I'm sure thankful about that.

Church was good this morning. It was about having faith the size of a mustard seed, from Matthew. A good reminder.

Anyone Can Comment Now

I received quite a few e-mails from you all, saying that you couldn't comment because you didn't have a Google account. I changed it so anyone can comment now. Do me a favor though. Please don't use my name when you comment. I'm trying to stay "anonymous". Maybe I'll change that later.

I found out I have mice/rats, not sure which. They are in my storage room outside, but I think I heard them in the wall last night! My next door neighbors are not the cleanest folks. It seems that a few townhouses here have the same problem. The president of our association doesn't think it's a big deal yet. I bought some traps today, but the thought of setting them sickens me. I made our president promise to come & clean out my traps if I catch a mouse. To "celebrate" I watched a Tom & Jerry cartoon this am. Maybe I can steal another neighbor's cat & lock it in the storage room until it catches all the mice. This is NOT what weekends are made for!!!

My Picture Is Back!

But I re-uploaded it, if that makes sense. See the tiny square to the right of my picture?? That's where the original one was. I don't know how to delete the little box...........and I wonder, will this picture also disappear tomorrow???

I will go walk the dog now.............

My Picture Is Gone!

I just noticed that my picture of my Net Market Bag is gone this evening. I read the help section & the answer didn't satisfy me. See why I think blogging is a waste of time??? Now I will have to figure that out. Not now, that's for sure!!! You tell me!!!

I just bought some cotton/linen yarn at Elann.com. I want to use it to make some of the things in the Mason Dixon Knitting book. I've been looking for a bargain on cotton/linen yarn, finally found one.............so I read about knitting & I buy yarn.............but I never knit. Did a couple rows tonight, that's all. I wasn't suppose to add to my stash anymore..............but last weekend I even bought some Cascade Fixation on ebay to make the Broadripple Socks on the Knitty site.

Net Market Bag

I finished this project just over a week ago.....I think. (Time is just crazy. It is June 5th already!!) This is made out of recycled silk yarn. I made a scarf out of this for my sister a couple years ago, when I really was a beginning knitter! :) I was with a friend of mine when she had bought a skein of this yarn too. I have been trying to talk her into knitting, but she hasn't made the plunge yet! I knew that she would like this bag, so I asked her if she wanted to give me her skein & that I would give her this bag. She was very happy, which of course made me very happy. This also meant that she didn't have to wait for a project, she got one immediately!! I love giving my knitting away. I've barely kept anything for myself. This Net Market Bag is a free pattern. I belong to 2 Yahoo knitting groups, Knitlist, & Knitting Novices. A bunch of people on the Knitlist group were talking about this pattern, so I ended up doing it. So my socks are still unfinished. Well, tonight I figured out how to insert a picture, & how to link a web page to my post. Not bad for Post #3, eh?? It just started sprinkling, don't tell Lacey, but I'm NOT going to take her for a walk tonight. It's late & I want to at least do a little knitting. No, I didn't start my Jaywalker socks yet. I'm thinking I want to finish my Ampersand socks. Such big decisions. Not only that, but I got the new Knit Picks catalog tonight. Does that mean I will read about knitting & not knit????????

Time Waster!

I can't believe how much time I've wasted trying to get this little blog rolling. That "Verse of the Day" at the bottom is suppose to change everyday, & it did change today, but I realized it was a translation of the Bible that was a bit too old for what I wanted, so I had to do a search again to find the web site to get the code, delete the old code & put in the new one. Oh BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!

My new Knit Picks needles came in the mail today. Now this "time waster", me, will probably start another project. I want to try to do the Jaywalker socks in the Magic Loop method!! AND........you know what?? After playing with this stupid blog, I think new knitting challenges are WAY easier!!

I have another excuse to put off knitting........I never want an excuse to not knit, but I always seem to have one.............my biggest excuse is that I read all about knitting & never knit...........but it's wonderfully cooler today, & I have to go walk the dog.

1st Post

My goodness, this was suppose to be easy?? I don't know what I'm doing, but I will figure it out.
